Speaking & Social Interaction teachers learners to use English as a tool for social interaction. The text not only teaches important aspects of social interaction but also provides a framework for conversational analysis and practice. The second edition contains an updated format and illustractions, as well as new topics for discussion and improved activities.
The text addresses such social situations as making acquaintances, telephoning, giving opinions, agreeing and disagreeing, getting and giving advice, making invitations, and offering and requesting help. The difference between "excuse me" and "I'm sorry" is also taught. Each of the ten units of the text guides students through a warm-up, a dialogue for analysis, helpful expressions, points to remember, as well as small group, community, and homework activities.
For intermediate to advanced ESL/EFL students.
